Parents and Families
Thank you for your interest and
commitment to FIMT and we hope that your son or daughter is
successful and happy while a student here.Entering higher
education after schooling is a landmark time for both
children and parents. It is an opportunity for your student to
learn how to make many of their own decisions, while you begin
to 'let go' of some of the involvement you have had
in their daily lives.
The Health Center staff is interested and
concerned about your student's health during their education
here.We are very aware of all the roles your student has here
as (s)he learns, works, and socializes with others on
campus. We also know that good health keeps students in
classes, maintains their energy and contentment and
contributes to their overall educational success.
Please note that our two family
physicians, pharmacist, and Registered Nurses are full time
staff of the Rural Community Health Centre and are
responsible for about 12,500 visitations annually.I am
confident that you and your student will find that they have a
very positive and caring attitude toward each of their
patients. We greatly value the confidentiality of
your student's health information. That is driven by our
respect for your student's privacy, our medical ethics. We
always ask your student to sign a Release of Information
before we provide information to you. That is usually not a
significant barrier. We can always accept information from you
as a family member and can talk with you about our practices
and treatment programs in general terms.

What is the basic information I should
know about the Rural Community Health
Center?
The Health Center is an outpatient
medical clinic that is staffed by two full-time family,
board-certified physicians employed by the Institute.
In addition, the Center is staffed with four Registered
Nurses, an office staff.
We are open Monday thru Saturday
from 9:00 a.m. - 07:00p.m. and Sunday 9:00
a.m. - 02:00 p.m. We are comparable to the many family
practices like your own.
Because we are part of the FIMT's
Division of Student Affairs and offer medical services to
students, we provide our care and services at the lowest
possible costs with the goal of balancing the budget by the
end of each year. The low costs passed on to
our patients is done very purposefully.
What services
are offered at the Health Center?
We offer most or all of the
services viz. Radiology, Dental, Physiotherapy,
Ophthalmology, Laboratory, Pharmacology,Ultrasonography (4-D) and much
more offered by your own family provider.
About
12,500
patient visits are handled annually for
illnesses, minor injuries that may require sutures, or burn
treatment, physicals, and many more services.
Please visit services for more information on what we
do for our patients.
